This is one of the accepted dynamics equations, useful in situations where acceleration is constant, e.g. when bodies are affected by gravity. If a body’s initial velocity is u, and its final velocity is v, and the acceleration is a, then s will be the distance covered. Note that a strict “vector” rule applies: direction is important.
