Thank you but I still am a little confused. I am trying to work out bond energies and this does not show the carbon atoms, and only one.hydrogen

The above structure is a skeletal structure. This structure (Figure 7: http://www.chemistr...upboard.org/calgon/6 ) shows you where the hydrogen atoms are. Where the structure ends O-, you need a Na+ to complete the structure.
