How to add in different bases?

How do you add 2 different numbers in 2 different bases? For example: 143 (base 5) +27 (base 9)

Answers
It depends what base you want your answer in, but the simplest way would be to convert your numbers to the same base (eg base 10 because that's easiest) & then add them, then convert to whatever base you want

ie 143 (base 5) is 48 (base 10) & then 27 (base 9) is 25 (base 10), so they total 73 (base 10), which is 243 (base 5) or 81 (base 9)
