Partition and add

My kid is in y3, This is what they want my kid to do (Make up five addition calculations for yourself and work them out using the written partitioning method. Use a combination of 2-digit and 3-digit numbers) and i dont know how to help them

Hi, I think they want you to come up with 5 calculations that would be difficult to do in your head, and then use the "partition" method to solve them.

So for example, if we had we could break that up into a simpler calculation and solve bits of it as a we go.

So splitting 34 like so makes adding to it easier, infact we could split . Giving us . We know how to do and so the whole thing becomes
