There are red, blue and green discs in a bag

1/3rd are red discs 2/5ths are blue discs there are 12 green discs How many red disks are there?

There are no doubt a few ways of working this out. With the information provided you can work out that red and blue disks account for (5/15 + 6/15) 11/15ths of the disks. If the only other colour is green (which equal 4/15ths) of which there are 12, then the total number of disks is 45 (12/4*15).
