Hello there potential future students! My name is Robert Marenghi.
I have been teaching guitar, ukulele, keyboard, percussion, song writing and meditation to people of all ages for around 15 years.
I guarantee productive and fun lessons!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach guitar (all styles), ukulele, keyboard, piano, percussion, songwriting and meditation (this last one is usually sought after as a means of stress management)
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have taught these subjects freelance for many years and have for the last 5 years been an 'Outstanding' Lead Tutor on the Mayor of Newham's Every Child a Musician programme. The programme has reached some 11,000 primary and secondary school students across the borough, and also collaborated with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on several occasions. This has given me a huge variety of teaching experience. I have also played in many different rock and folk bands, performances of which have been run on Channel 4 and BBC radio 6. I have taught meditation freelance for just over a year.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £30 per hour for one student, £40 for two students and £50 for three students. Anymore than three and we can negotiate! These prices include books and other resources which the student can keep indefinitely.
- Where do you teach?
I teach both at home and at the homes of students. I live in Brentwood in Essex but will drive to Shenfield, Basildon, Billericay, Ingatestone, Loughton, Wickford...and most other places in Essex!
- When are you available?
I am available most evenings and weekends. I have lots of students but as lessons are generally only an hour long (or even less if the student is very young) I can often attend three lessons in an evening. During term time I spend a few hours each day teaching in schools. During the holidays I am available all day. I am very flexible and never failed to accommodate a student yet!
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach music to all ages and all levels. I teach mediation and stress management to beginners of any age.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
In music, if desired, I can prepare students for grade examinations. I have the appropriate resources to do this from grades 1 to 8, and I am currently in the process of registering with ABRSM (which is a surprisingly long process!)
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can teach over Skype if required.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Yes! I guarantee the lessons will be enjoyable and we will learn what you want to learn, as well as what I feel it is necessary to learn to establish a sound foundation (please excuse the pun). If you want to learn pop songs, we will mostly focus on that style of playing. Likewise if you want to go the theory route I also have the appropriate resources. I am friendly, laid back and reliable. Music is my passion so I want to be there teaching you! :)
Robert is one of our best tutors. They have a high-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!
- What kind of experience do you have?
The experiences I mentioned in my qualifications section range from teaching groups of 30 students to teaching students individually. I am very comfortable teaching people of all ages - I have taught 6 year olds and 61 year olds!
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an enhanced disclosure check (CRB) and will happily show this to students/parents
- Where and with whom did you train?
I have been on various training courses in East London, including child safeguarding, music education, behaviour management and first aid. I received guitar lessons for the first 4 years of my playing career and have taught myself advanced guitar and my other instruments over the last 16 years.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I belong to The Every Child a Musician education program, the Teacher's Union and the PRS music royalties company. I am also registered with First Tutors, Streetlife, Netmums and the Youth Music Network.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I have had many primary and secondary school students (literally thousands), some of whom have become wonderful guitar, ukulele and keyboard players over the time I have taught them. I also teach ukulele to senior members of Newham Council and have many private students outside schools, ranging from a 7 year old boy in Upminster to a retired man of 61 in Brentwood!
Rob is an excellent guitar teacher. He's always punctual, easy to contact and has a very nice manner with our son, who he has been teaching for several months. I like the fact he allows time for creativity in his lessons as well as giving him a good theory base. I would thoroughly recommend him!
Rob is our favourite ukulele teacher. There have been real problems with the attendance of other teachers but come rain or shine Rob is there. Year 4 have learned more music this year than any other year. He has a professional and kind manner with our students. We wholeheartedly recommend him. Feel free to contact us regarding this recommendation
Rob was a great teacher. I'd been playing a few years before we met but he really brought me out of my shell and opened a lot of doors to playing I previously didn't think I would go through. Always on time, always polite!
We give permission for Rob to say we recommended him. He has been teaching our year 5 and 6 students the guitar for 2 years now and we are very happy with him. He is always on time and is a very nice man.
Rob has improved my playing from intermediate to what I boldly claim to be almost expert! He brushed up my technique and instilled in me a solid practise routine, which is the real secret to becoming a good player!
Rob is an excellent teacher, I look forward to our lessons every week
