About Zainab
I have been tutoring at a tuition centre for almost four years, where I teach mainly maths. I have been tutoring privately for a year now, and I teach GCSE level maths. When privately tutoring, I recommend buying a book online by a company that is widely used within schools. Using a book ensures that all topics are covered, and all types of questions relevant to upcoming tests or exams are covered too.

Before the first session, I have a chat with the student to try to understand what level they are at. This is by asking questions that determine what topics they struggle with, what topics they are confident in, if they are confident in basic knowledge they should know at their age, such as times tables etc. After I have an idea of how confident they are at maths, I will use the first session to go through the topic list for maths for the year they are in, and take notes and prioritise certain topics that I think are more important to cover before getting onto the harder topics. I will also ensure that the topics they said they are confident in, they actually do have the complete knowledge of that topic. This is just done through a simple test that I can make up on the spot. Finally, I will recommend a CGP maths book to use as a guide to go through all the topics. These usually cost for less than £10. the length of my sessions are flexible and the parent or guardian can decide on what would work best. The students I can teach range from 5-16 year olds.
