I am a cellist currently completing my final year at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, studying with Nick Trygstad- principal cello of the Halle orchestra.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I am able to teach the cello to all ages and standards, and up to grade 5 in flute.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold three ABRSM grade 8 examinations in cello, flute and singing. I have also just been awarded a 1st class honours degree at the RNCM, as well as 3 A levels and 9 GCSE grades.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £10 for a 30 minute lesson and £20 for an hour- a small fee would be added to cover travel expenses if a pupil wishes to be taught at their own home or elsewhere.
- Where do you teach?
I teach mostly in my house in Withington, however I am prepared to travel in and around the Manchester area if a pupil wishes. I also hold a qualified driver's license.
- When are you available?
My teaching hours are very flexible, including weekends and holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am able to teach all ages and standards in cello, and up to grade 5 standard in flute tuition. However I hold the most expereince working with children between the ages of 8-16.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to prepare students for ABRSM, Guildhall and Trinity examinations, however I do not expect my pupils to complete these if they do not wish to do so.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I find teaching both in groups and individually extremely valuable and rewarding, and encourage both students looking to take up a new hobby and enjoy music, as well as students wishing to persue a musical career.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have vast experience in working with children of all ages, both in individual and group teaching and as a member of staff on the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a fully up to date CRB disclosure certificate.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I began learning the cello at an early age in the south, and moved to Manchester four years ago to complete a degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying with Nick Trygstad, principal cello of the Halle orchestra. I have taken part in masterclasses with world class cellists including Ralph Kirshbaum and Hannah Roberts, and I am an active orchestral musician having played with the Manchester Camerata and Symphonia Cymru to name a few.
