I teach Double Bass to a post grade 8 standard and up to music conservatoire entry level.
I teach music theory up to grade 5 for the associated board music exams (ABRSM).
I am a qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and as a native speaker I can teach English students of all levels.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from the Royal College of Music with a BMus and I have a diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (DipABRSM).
I have grade 8 distinction in Double Bass and Cello and grade 8 Piano.
I qualified as a TEFL teacher at Bloomsbury International, London.
- How much do you charge?
My fees as a Double Bass teacher are fixed.
Fees for music theory and English teaching may be fixed or slightly variable depending on distance travelled.
- Where do you teach?
I teach Double Bass at students' homes.
For theory and English I am happy to teach at students' homes or in public spaces.
- When are you available?
My availability is often very flexible. I may not be able to keep a regular slot for the student as my work as a performing musician is often unpredictable. I will do my utmost to give students the amount of lessons they request.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages and levels for Double Bass and English.
Up to grade 5 ABRSM for music theory.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Music - ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall grades
English - all abilities welcome and I will help with preperation for all general English qualifications.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I taught music and beginner cello and double bass at a school in Highbury and Islington for three years. I teach in a prep school in South West London, and have recently had a pupil pass her grade 4 after learning for only one and a half years.
I will help pupils source their instrument and equipment at no extra charge.
As part of my training at Bloomsbury International I taught classes of Intermediate and Advanced students twice a week, and often dealt with beginner students privately.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have been CRB checked by Highbury Grove School, London.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at the Royal College of Music with Professor Peter Buckoke, with whom I studied Double Bass and Alexander Technique with for four years.
