Hi I'm Rosanne Duckworth, a professional freelance trumpeter and teacher of music. I am a very enthusiastic, creative and motivational tutor, with a real passion for nurturing talent and encouraging ambition.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the Trumpet and Cornet (all levels) and Tenor Horn and Euphonium (Beginner to Grade 5).
- Tell me about your qualifications.
In 2013 I graduated from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London with a Master of Arts in Performance (2011-2013). In addition to my Masters, I also studied at Birmingham Conservatoire where I gained a Bachelor of Music (Hons) (2007-2011). I also have ABRSM Grade 8 qualification for the Trumpet and Music Theory.
- How much do you charge?
My lessons are typically an hour long (£40), but I am also able to teach for 45 mins for £30. Additionally I am available to teach longer lessons if a student is interested in both the practical and theoretical aspects of music.
- Where do you teach?
As I live in Sydenham (SE26) I am available to teach in the surrounding areas and potentially a little further depending on the student. I typically teach at students' home, as I have found this is where the pupil is usually more comfortable.
- When are you available?
I am very flexible and would be happy to teach throughout the week, after school and at weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Trumpet: Beginner - Advanced
Cornet: Beginner - Advanced
Tenor Horn: Beginner - Grade 8
Euphonium: Beginner - Grade 5
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

- Do you have a personal message for students?
With 17 years of experience, I am a very confident, enthusiastic and passionate musician and teacher. I want to encourage those with a love of music and performance to take up lessons, as it can help students in areas such as confidence, artistic ability, patience, listening, attitude, organisation, behaviour, well-being and working within a team. Whether its just an interest to take up a new hobby, or the dream of becoming a professional musician, I would love to show you what brass performance is all about! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have extensive experience teaching brass privately across London, including the Trumpet, Tenor Horn and Cornet. I usually teach 1-2-1, but have also taught siblings together and groups of friends. Additionally I have taught brass within primary and secondary schools. This has included private 1-2-1 tuition, group coaching and educational workshops, for students of varying abilities.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I currently hold a up-to-date DBS
- Where and with whom did you train?
During the 6 years that I studied at the following music conservatoires - Birmingham Conservatoire, Conservatoire National Superieur Musique et de Danse de Lyon, and Royal Academy of Music, London - I was fortunate to have been coached by Alan Thomas, Paul Mayes, Hakan Hardernberger, Kristian Steenstrup, Mark David, Paul Beniston, Rod Franks, Philippe Schartz, and Reinhold Friedrich.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
“Rosanne is an excellent and dedicated musician who brings all her enthusiasm for music to her teaching. In lessons she can be both supportive and challenging...She is highly experienced in the standards of musical education: her guidance during my preparation for my first practical exam enabled me to achieve a distinction. Rosanne is also very warm with young children - my little daughter soon took a liking to her. Most important to me perhaps, Rosanne's playing is enchanting, and she is deeply inspiring." Pan, adult beginner trumpet.
"Georgina is making great progress with Rosanne and truly enjoying the lessons. Rosanne is very professional, punctual and a pleasure to deal with. I would not hesitate to recommend her as a brass instrument instructor." K Seal, mother of Georgina, grade 4 trumpet.
"Rosanne teaches trumpet to our two, grade 5, 12-yr old children and through her mix of talent, warmth, steadiness and enthusiasm has been able to revive their passion for playing. So much so that their father wanted to join in the fun, and has now begun beginner lessons as well." Elisabeth, mother of Felix and Cecile, grade 5 trumpet.
