I am a friendly trombone/brass and piano teacher living in Northwest London.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach trombone and general brass as well as piano, music theory and chamber music.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I gained a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours from the Royal Academy of Music. During my time here I studied with Mark Templeton (Principal Trombone, London Philharmonic Orchestra), Matt Gee (Principal Trombone, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), Ian Bousfield (Former Principal Trombone, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra) and Jim Maynard (Second Trombone, London Symphony Orchestra). I also had lessons with Jorgen van Rijen (Principal Trombone, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra).
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour or £25 for half an hour for lessons within Zone 1-2. For lessons outside of this area, an additional charge will be added to cover travel expenses.
- Where do you teach?
I travel to students' homes for lessons. I live in Willesden Green but am willing to travel. Ideal locations would be within easy reach of the Jubilee or Metropolitan Line although transport links from Willesden Green are excellent so nowhere is too far away!
- When are you available?
As a freelance musician, my timetable is very flexible and I am sure we can find a time suitable for both of us.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and all levels.
- What kind of experience do you have?
With regards to teaching, I have taught privately since the age of 17, covering a wide range of different abilities and age ranges. I have started teaching a lot more frequently during my four years at music college. I am currently the brass teacher at Holland Park School.
I have vast experience in performance, having played with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and currently on trial with the Orchestra of the English National Ballet. I am also a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, one of the leading youth orchestras in the world.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I do not have an up-to-date DBS Certificate but can get one upon request.
