Rowan is a highly gifted musician and versatile teacher who is adept at both one to one lessons and chamber coaching. I have always found his tuition knowledgeable and inspiring.
He combines profound musicality with a deep knowledge of violin technique, which he teaches in such as a way as it remains always musically relevant. Furthermore, he is able to combine exacting high standards with good humour and an approachable personality that allows students to produce their best work and grow in confidence.
In April last year I had lessons with Rowan during the Ciaccona course. Rowan helped me tremendously with technical issues and monitored my progress carefully. Rowan gives clear steps on how to practice; after each lesson with him, I know clearly what I should do. From him, I learnt how to practice effectively. Rowan is very patient and friendly and always has an answer to my questions; he does not stop the lesson until I know what I have to work on. I always look forward to have a lesson with Rowan.
