About the lesson

My name is Ryan Latimer; I'm a Teacher, Performer and Composer based in Birmingham. I am passionate about all areas of music and happy to teach people of all ages and abilities.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach Saxophone, Composition and Theory/Musicianship from beginner to advanced levels and up to intermediate level on Guitar/Bass. I am also more than happy to tutor students who are studying towards either an ABRSM graded exam or a GCSE/A-level in music.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I am currently in my 3rd year of study at Birmingham Conservatoire, studying towards a Bachelor of Music degree; specialising in composition.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £18 for a one hour session. However, I offer 10% discount for lessons booked in groups of 10.

- Where do you teach?

Although most of my teaching is done at Birmingham Conservatoire (city centre), I will travel to peoples homes depending on how far away they live from the city centre. This is something that can be discussed via email or telephone.

- When are you available?

Thursday 3pm - 8pm
Friday 10am - 8pm
Most weekends 10am - 8pm

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

All ages welcome.

About Ryan

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been playing the Saxophone for over 12 years. During that time I have played in many different groups, performing in many different styles; such as jazz/big band, classical, rock, folk and free improvisation. I also have around 8 years of experience as a guitarist, playing in number of rock/indie bands.

As a composer, I have had my music performed by a number of professional ensembles and orchestras in the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and Holland. Although my training is classical, I am very enthusiastic and sympathetic about all styles of music, so I am more than happy to consult anyone with any projects they might have.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I am in the process of receiving my CRB certificate.
