Hi!! My name is Tom! I'm a professional saxophone player and jazz musician, teacher and improviser. I LOVE MUSIC, playing, teaching, singing, dancing, writing and thinking about it!
I have been teaching for more than 11 years, and I know for sure that playing music should be fun whatever your level - if its not, youre not doing it right! Playing an instrument is a chance to let your individuality and style flourish, whether you're a complete beginner getting started, an intermediate looking to improve your groove or an advanced student looking to add some SPICE to your improvising skills.
I tutor musicians from age 8 - 80, students, undergraduates, professionals and hobby players. ITS ALL GOOD! I like to keep creativity ALIVE in my lessons by working in harmony with your personality, skills and goals. If exams are your thing, that works too! My students have a great track record of success in ABRSM exams from Grades 1-8, by now I have submitted students for hundreds of them, achieving a high percentage of merits and distinctions. I offer audition preparation for conservatoires and music colleges, as well as for Specialist Music Schools, NCO & IAPS courses.
I'm regularly teach at a private school in Wimbledon, West London, so I''m happy to teach in person there, or online. Equally can teach in-person at your home in South-East London (Hither Green, Lee, Blackheath, Greenwich, Blackheath, Sydenham and Dulwich), or at mine in Lewisham offering a comfortable environment with access to a large variety of teaching resources and a Piano.
I am a professional saxophonist and teacher based in South-East London. I have a masters degree in Jazz Saxophone, which I studied for at TrinityLaban Conservatoire of Music & Dance. I also studied Jazz at Leeds College of Music for my undergraduate degree.
After graduating in 2012, I began my career as a professional performer and teacher. Working in schools and music services across London and Essex I developed a portfolio of skills in teaching saxophone, flute, clarinet and oboe in a variety of group sizes upto 35 students as part of the Wider Opportunities program.
I am currently employed by two private schools in London, and give regular lectures and masterclasses at Higher Education institutions around the UK as well as internationally. I teach regularly on international education programs such as English Music Academy and Stage Jazz a Junas
Alongside my teaching schedule I maintain a busy career as a touring musician. I have performed at clubs and festivals in more than 20 countries around the world.
