Hello! My name is Alice and I am a secondary school English teacher. I have four years of experience teaching and have studied English literature and creative writing for my undergraduate degree prior to teaching. I believe enjoyment is the number one ingredient to success when studying English. In order to be perceptive and to engage with writers ideas you need to care about them and get in the head of the writer. Being able to do this also results in learners becoming successful writers. Discussing literature on a one to one basis will lead to best progress and enjoyment for a learner.
I am encouraging, supportive, tough but most importantly supportive and friendly, so that learners can develop ultimate confidence and independence.
Any questions please get in touch.
I have been teaching for four years and completed my PGCE at UEL.
I am Assistant Head of Year as well as a classroom teacher.
I completed my undergraduate degree in English Literature and Creative Writing receiving a 2:1.
My A levels were in Biology (E), PE (B) and English (B).
I completed 12 GCSEs all A-C.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who has worked in education for four years.
I was on the GB Modern Pentathlon team from age 14 - 18 so I have grown up managing pressure, responsibility and my time. This has helped me to become an ambitious person who is always willing to face a challenge and develop my skill set.
I write poetry whenever I get the opportunity. Outside of teaching I help organise a very successful new writing group that meets monthly in Homerton. Writing and hearing other’s work is a real passion of mine.
I teach because I believe each individual should be given the tools to make sense of their lives through writing and reading. Working in education has made me fully appreciate the power of knowledge and confidence and I love that I am able to help young people find this.
