My name is Jessica Rivera, and I am 31 years old and a proud mother of two. I have a passion for working with youth and helping students learn and grow. I have over 10 years of experience working in the education system and in school settings, where I have supported and guided students in their academic development. Here is an example of one of my many lesson plans:
1. Warm-Up (5–10 minutes)
Start by asking students if they know any Spanish words. Write a few common words on the board.
Examples:
Hola (Hello)
Adiós (Goodbye)
Gracias (Thank you)
Practice pronunciation together.
2. Vocabulary Introduction (10–15 minutes)
Teach basic greetings and introductions.
Greetings:
Hola – Hello
Buenos días – Good morning
Buenas tardes – Good afternoon
Buenas noches – Good evening/night
Introducing yourself:
Me llamo ___ – My name is ___
¿Cómo te llamas? – What is your name?
Mucho gusto – Nice to meet you
Model the pronunciation and have students repeat.
3. Guided Practice (10–15 minutes)
Practice short conversations.
Example dialogue:
Person A: Hola
Person B: Hola
Person A: ¿Cómo te llamas?
Person B: Me llamo ___.
Person A: Mucho gusto.
Person B: Mucho gusto.
Students practice with a partner.
4. Activity (10–15 minutes)
Partner Practice Activity
Students walk around the room and introduce themselves to at least 3 classmates using Spanish.
They must say:
Hola
¿Cómo te llamas?
Me llamo ___
Mucho gusto
5. Review and Closing (5 minutes)
Review the key phrases together.
Ask students:
How do you say “Hello” in Spanish?
How do you ask someone their name?
How do you say “My name is ___”?
