Shutdowns and melt downs: 21st century governance, the constitution, tears and me

Methodology

Hi, I’m Pete, and I’m presently working at Birkdale, travelling to sunny Gainsborough for lots of GCSE poetry and prose ( who can tire of one's anthology of poems? Polite answers only, please), teaching Macbeth, IELTS ( there's always IELTS ), City and Guilds and the Weimar with a student from Sheffield High. Yes, my day is certainly varied and involves much zigzagging across our grey Yorkshire city. At the moment my day encompasses EFL and IELTS; 11 plus; GCSE English, History and Maths; A level History and Politics; and KS2 English, Maths and Science – those mobile skeletons pasted on turquoise card are quite something!

Issued December 2017. - Where and with whom did you train? Both Sheffield Universities and more recently Sheffield College with occasional sorties to Spain to make the odd theatre prop or two - my paper mache cows were something to behold! I once could say all that in Spanish. And who could ever forget the Clowning and Circus workshops? Yes, I was the child who ran away with the circus. - Do you belong to any professional organisations? Well, the only connection I have with anything professional would be Sheffield Wednesday. Opps, you said professional didn't you? And before you mention it... there's always next year ( again) . - Tell me about some of your current students. Plumbers, a Bulgarian, some lower 6th Chinese, teenage English and two very small Brazilians, The subjects are pretty varied; Conversational English; GCSE History; A level History, Politics and English; GCSE English; Y2/Y3/Y4/Y7/ English and Maths; adult learners in Maths/Functional Skills; and a couple of youngsters on the Autistic spectrum. Young, old, grown up or growing up they're all a delight to work with ( mostly!).
