The first step of my teaching method is making sure that the student understands the question. The best way to make them understand it is to explain the problem using a real life situation as an example and to show them a problem with the working out step by step so they can visualize and understand each step. Their understanding will then be checked every certain time period (e.g. every week) and I try to make sure the student is enjoying the subject every time.
A-level student who is passionate about Maths. Currently studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry in central London but also available to give lessons in West London.
Six 9s(A**) obtained in GCSEs including Maths and Sciences. I am friendly and I find easy to teach others to understand the topic.
I am highly motivated, positive and a dedicated student and I always try to take advantage of all the opportunities given so I can enhance my knowledge, skills and experience. To demonstrate this I gained an award for overall empower in my year where I meet all the criteria of the school ethos, some of the criteria is excel academically every day, motivate myself and others, persevere through challenges and many others which represents a role model student. A few examples of my achievements in my years in school are clubs that I attended such as maths Challenge, where I developed my maths skills and took part in a national competition. Participating in other clubs such as Brilliant Club and Challenge Club for Gifted and Talented students helped me develop my communication skills with my fellow peers and my team work skills where we had to take part in activities such as working together on challenging questions given when going to a university visit.
In year 10 I performed my Work Experience in an architecture company called Marks Barfield Architects, my main focus was on the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio, I created a PowerPoint explaining how it can be applied to architecture and my own findings on the formula to find the axes of the Fibonacci spiral, to then apply it on a pretty complicated ICT program for design.
I am a talented person who enjoys drawing, playing instruments such as violin, piano and flute and take part in sport activities. I participate in many extracurricular activities such as Netball Club and Volleyball Club, where I took part in national competitions. I currently play for a volleyball team outside school where we have competitions and came one of the top in England. Volleyball helps me to relieve stress and makes me realize that there’s always a challenge to overcome and never give up.
One of my other hobbies is attending to the Mensa a high IQ society for top achievers. This allows me to make contact with other lively minds where we share and enjoy the widest range of interests, leisure pursuits and hobbies, this brings me the chance to make new friends and expand my horizons.
Furthermore I also have a passion for languages; currently I am fluent in speaking, writing and reading English, Spanish and Catalan, I also took French for my GCSEs where I obtained a grade 9 (out of 9), my love for languages hasn’t stopped, I am currently learning Korean in my free time as I feel extremely passionate and attracted to it.
For my GCSEs I obtained six 9s, two 8s, one A star and one 6. This allowed me to go to Harris Westminster Sixth Form where I’m currently studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Some of my favourite and most successful subjects are Math and Science. Since I was little, I always enjoyed Math and Science as I find it interesting and thrilling and discover how some formulas can be applied to real life.
I hope to aspire to a physics and math based career to perhaps become an engineer.
