Sophie has tutored my daughter for the past five months in GCSE maths. From the word go Sophie has been both very patient and kind in giving my daughter confidence to face her exams. Sophie is a very warm and friendly person, it has been a pleasure to welcome her into our home each week. I would highly recommend her as a tutor for any child.
We required Sophie's help for our daughter, who was lacking confidence in her maths. Our daughter established a quick rapport with Sophie and looked forward to their weekly sessions. Under Sophie's guidance she understood the problems presented and had the confidence to solve them herself. Her teacher at school noticed an improvement in her ability and enabled her move up in ability group. If our other children struggle at school, we would not hesitate to contact Sophie again.
Sophie was a joyful tutor to work with. I think that she was the right person for me and I enjoyed working with her. Maths for me has been made clearer and I feel smarter. I now understand long division, mental maths, percentages, subtraction, factors plus a lot more.
My son didn't really want any help as he thought he would be judged by the tutor. With a lot of effort on Sophie's part he gradually gained in confidence and his maths began to improve. Without telling school about the tuition, I was very pleased to hear his teacher say at parents evening "his maths have come on massively". Having the 1:1 session has really helped as before, my son was feeling left behind in class. He doesn't dread the maths lessons anymore.
My daughter had no interest in maths but after several lessons with Sophie, she can't wait to get on the computer to do extra maths work. This is unheard of for her and has gradually built up her self esteem as she felt such a failure before.
