Stephen - Farnborough - Music Theory

Methodology

I am a freelance trumpet player based in the London area and have had much experience teaching individual pupils of all standards, ensembles and leading workshops.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach both Trumpet/Cornet from beginner to advanced level as required, including grade exams, and doubling piccolo, C and D/Eb trumpets.

Although I can't provide instruments for students I do have a wide knowledge of suitable instrument makes and suppliers so please ask if you have questions!

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have 4 A Levels (Music - A, Music Technology - A, English - B, Maths - C), Guildhall School of Music and Drama BMus(Hons) Trumpet.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £30 per hour, then £25 for 45 mins, £20 for 30 mins and £15 for a 15 minute lesson.

I also offer consultation lessons on request, and am available to coach ensembles.

- Where do you teach?

I am based in BR6, but can travel very easily within London and currently teach at student's homes.

- When are you available?

I am generally very flexible so can teach during the day or after work hours, and at the weekend..whenever suits best!

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

Beginner to advanced on classical trumpet and cornet, any age.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I teach both Trinity Guildhall and ABRSM syllabuses, but if grade exams aren't for you then I am very happy to teach people who want to play for fun too!

- Do you have a personal message for students?

People play for the love of the instrument, so performing and practising the trumpet should always be satisfying and enjoyable!

Welcome to my page! Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to book a trial lesson.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach the Trumpet/Cornet, Trombone, French Horn and I also teach Music Theory.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have a performance degree (BMus(Hons) 2:1) on the Trumpet from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I studied with Paul Beniston, Paul Cosh, Anne McAneney and Natural Trumpet with Steve Keavy.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £45 p/h, £35 for 45 minutes and £25 per 30 minute lesson. Trial/consultation lessons and Skype lessons are also available.

- Where do you teach?

I travel to my students' houses to teach, and am available for lessons in Thame and the surrounding areas. I also teach in the Finsbury Park area of North London, where I have 3 private students.

- When are you available?

I normally teach during evenings and at the weekend, though as I am a freelance performer this can vary on a weekly basis.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and standards. I recommend that young beginner brass players start after their adult front teeth have come through as this is best for setting up a stable embouchure.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I teach both Trinity and ABRSM exam syllabuses.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I am available for Skype lessons on request.
