My approach to tutoring is based on the principles of active recall and spaced repetition; these are the most scientifically well proven methods of study. It involves me testing pupils at regular, spaced intervals to assess their level of knowledge as well as encouraging students to periodically test themselves. Furthermore, I explain concepts in simple, real-world terms and allow students to explain concepts in their own words to gage their level of understanding also. I am also perceptive to students' weaker topics, in order to explore those in greater depth.
Hi, my name is Rhea and I'm a 16 year old student currently studying the IB at Dartford Grammar School. The subjects I am studying are Higher Level Chemistry, Higher Level Biology, Higher Level Maths, Standard Level English, Standard Level German and Standard Level Geography. I would describe myself as an approachable, reliable person with good communication skills. I am also punctual and organised, which makes me a very responsible individual on whom you can depend upon. In the future, I hope to pursue either Medicine or Maths at a higher level; I feel that my qualities will be favourable for my career aspirations, as well as for becoming a tutor. In my GCSE's, I obtained 11 9's, including a 9 in Further Maths and I believe I have a lot of valuable insight and knowledge to pass on to future students.
I have mentored Year 7 and 8 students with Maths for 2 years; this involved me helping them overcome any major difficulties with their maths studies as well as coaching them to get better grades in their exams. I have also acted as a Housemate to help integrate Year 7's into the school community and this often involved me giving academic advice as well. Having achieved top grades in my GCSE's, I am well-equipped with the knowledge of how to succeed in exams and the best methods of revision which I can pass on to my tutees.
