A typical online lesson consists of using online worksheets, presentations and quizzes to teach and reinforce concepts. Each lesson is adapted for the student's individual needs. My approach, due to my background in being homeschooled and catching up with English at college, is that I'm able to relate to students, as my exams are still fresh in my mind.
I have been a private tutor since 2019, helping students of all different backgrounds and ages to improve their English skills and boost their confidence. Having been homeschooled myself, I took my own exams just a few years ago, so I am able to relate to students.
£17 an hour, including one piece of homework (optional) + £2 for every extra piece of homework, should you request more than one.
I am a highly organised worker who is able to adapt to many different roles, picking up various skills along the way. I pride myself on being disciplined, as I am often juggling a multitude of personal goals and projects, so it has become very important to manage my time well.
Having been home-schooled for six years, I have become independently motivated in my learning, which is how I discovered a passion for Psychology. Although my career goal is to become a qualified counsellor, I ultimately enjoy helping people, as I myself have benefited from the support of my mentors and community services. This has given me a motivation to get involved with roles including animal care, teaching and community support.
I think of myself as a person who is always learning and focused on self-development.
English Tutor for Tutorful, September 2019-Present
Currently I am a freelance tutor, helping students of all ages and backgrounds to improve their skills in either English Language, or English as a second language. I decided to become a tutor because at college I enjoyed helping my classmates, many of whom had recently moved to London, with their English skills. I wanted to continue making a difference in my community in this way, whilst also continuing my learning of English Language, through teaching it to others.
Sessional Worker for Hackney CVS, April 2019-Present
At Hackney CVS, I am involved with a project called Account, which aims to improve communication between the young people of Hackney and the police, whilst holding the police force to ‘account’ for the way in which they deal with people of colour, in particular. Having attended college and a youth club in Hackney for a number of years, I was intrigued to know more about the challenges young people go through in the area. I also saw this project as another opportunity to help people, through facilitating educational workshops.
Volunteering, 2015- 2017
I began my volunteering journey in 2015, when I chose to work at a local farm, Wellgate, as part of my work experience for college. I’ve always enjoyed being around animals, and this was a great experience for learning how to feed, groom and clean farm animals, including pigs, cows and rabbits.
In the summer of 2017, I became interested in volunteering to help people, and participated in events for Positive Futures London (PFL). I assisted with catering for a church event for children, supervised children’s parties and also assisted at an outdoor cinema event. That summer’s events was a great way to contribute to the community.
Stewarding, May 2015 and March 2017
I first got involved with Starfury Conventions in 2015, after having bought a ticket to one of their events, I found out I could volunteer as a steward. This role enabled me to learn how to assist in events where hundreds of people are in attendance, checking tickets and directing people to the correct rooms. I volunteered with Starfury again in 2017, in a different role backstage, where I assisted with setting up the stage, filming talks and ensuring events ran smoothly.

I pride myself on personal discipline, in regard to carrying out tasks and making progress on my goals and projects. I always aim to be reliable, as I myself rely on a steady routine, so I understand how important it is to have consistency at work. Furthermore, I consider myself to be highly organised, as I enjoy organising various tasks, and I am always aiming to improve my time-management.
During the years that I was home-schooled, I picked up quite a few hobbies, including reading- my favourite genre being horror, and my favourite author Stephen King- as well as practising yoga and learning to play the keyboard. I also enjoy being active and social, taking part in swimming and rock climbing. Furthermore, I enjoy writing poems and knitting.
Chelsey-Ann is friendly, warm and always open to answering questions related to the subject matter being taught. Her lessons are fun, interactive and very informative.
Chelsey-Ann was my psychology tutor. She was so well prepared with her lesson plans. I was able to understand new subject material with relative ease because of her extensive knowledge of the material, her attentiveness, and her thorough approach. Chelsey-Ann is an excellent tutor and I'd highly recommend her!!
