Each half hour lesson, we will look at some music theory and then apply that in a practical way on the piano. The teaching style will be adapted to the pupil; younger children will often play games to learn about rhythm and pitch in a kinaesthetic way, whereas with older children and adults I may explain the theory in more detail in order to aid their learning.
I currently work for St Michael le Belfrey within the worship department, which involves playing the piano and leading people in singing on a regular basis. From September I will be studying History at the University of York. I’ve been teaching beginners the piano along with music theory for four years, with pupils ranging in age from 5 years old to 24 years old.
