My teaching strategy is based on "interleaving", i.e. testing prior teaching and knowledge regularly at set intervals. This means that students cannot fall into the trap of a false sense of security - a rigorous understanding can't be replaced by the "tricks" often taught in classroom settings by teachers.
Typically, I find that this method of constantly giving questions on topics covered in previous weeks is effective at keeping students on their toes, and provides a clear idea to them of their own progression. Additionally, I aim to instil an appreciation for academics, with exploration into some more advanced topics, as the best form of motivation is intrinsic.
