My teaching method is completely tailored to individual students. I give one free lesson, to work out the goals of the students and the style they wish to learn in. As I play and teach mostly Traditional Celtic music, I prefer to teach by ear, as I find this method more effective long-term, however I also teach with music for older students, or for Classical music. I especially love to get students to come up with their own ideas for how they want the music to sound, as I believe this creativity is what makes a great musician.
I am a Microbiology Student in Glasgow University and have been playing music, including guitar, fiddle and violin, for 13 years. I currently teach at Feis nan Gaidheal workshops and weekly classes, and have been doing so for over 5 years. I recently had 4 1-1 clients, before coming to University. I teach all ages and abilities and teach music theory as well - I have completed my Grade 5 Music Theory. I am part of upcoming Scottish traditional band, Madderam, who have played headlines concerts, festivals and have been hired by the Scottish Councils for formal events.
