Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Maths and Non-Verbal reasoning are the topics your child will encounter when they take the 11 plus. As a person who has taken the 11 plus before and is in a Grammar School, I know exactly what is needed to make them pass. I make sure that I teach each topic properly and then produce practise questions to further enhance their learning. During the last few months before the test, I will hold online mock tests to help children gain an idea of what the test is like, boost their confidence and provide crucial timing practise.
I highly recommend that if your child is in Year 5 that they have 2 lessons a week, one of which is entirely English and Verbal Reasoning and one of which is entirely Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning, however, I will be able to do what works best for you. For English and Verbal Reasoning, I recommend 1 hour per lesson and for Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning, I recommend 1 and half hours.
I teach my students on Zoom, so I am able to interact with them face to face and so I can go through PowerPoints/slideshows with them and give online homework. If you do not have Zoom, I can happily let you know how you can download it in advance for future lessons.
I am happy to prepare children from an earlier age so if your child is in Year 3/4, I can still help them to understand important Maths and English topics which will then be needed for the 11+ and then provide 11+ practice in Year 5. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I am a student who attends one of the top schools in Birmingham. I have passed the test and attended a grammar school so I know what your child needs to pass. I am a friendly and nice person willing to tutor anyone. I have also tutored other people who have gained exceptional results. The first student that I tutored passed their grammar test and now attends King Edwards grammar school.
Excellent! she is a very good tutor
It went really well. He's willing to work and I look forward to our next lesson to help him
Ava is a excellent tutor. She is a very professional and works very hard. She is a family friend of mine and I have known her for most of my life. Ava has helped my 6 and 7 year old kids with maths. I really recommend her.
Ava has helped my child so much! If my child didn’t understand something, she explains it in a way she’ll understand and is so kind and patient. From tutoring my child with Ava, I have seen my child improve so much and she is always happy and excited for her lessons with Ava. My child has now done her 11+ and has passed thanks to Ava! I would definitely recommend!
I’ve know ava 4 quite a while now she is very clever and i believe she is a special, gifted student. She has always been exceptional in her studies getting high grades at a young age and now she has taken the next step in her life and begun to tutor children who need extra support 4 their 11+ I think she is a great tutor and I recommend her
My son is taught by Ava and she is a good tutor. My son is learning quicker than before. She asked for his weaknesses and strengths and improved his weaknesses in one month only! She also charges a low rate of just 10 pounds an hour she sets lessons that can change according to our timetable. My son feels confident in his learning and has improved in his speed and his English both of which he struggles on.
I think Ava is a great tutor my daughter always looks forward to their lessons and she is doing a lot better in her studies. Ava helps my daughter identify her strengths and weaknesses so she can become a more productive learner. I believe that she is a good tutor and brings out the better results in my child. I definitely recommend that your child is tutored by Ava.
