- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Chemistry, Applied Science and Physics to A-level. I teach all Sciences and Maths to GCSE.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a degree in Chemistry, a Ph. D in Material Science, I am also a qualified teacher with a masters degree in assessment.
- How much do you charge?
Depending on the subject and level, I charge £25-£30 per hour. With a flat fee of £3 for travelling to student homes. Tuition by email is by negotiation.
- Where do you teach?
I teach in my own home just off the A167, parents are welcome to stay and read a magazine if they wish. I have fewer slots available for pupils who wish to be taught in their own homes, although I can make after school appointments in the Peterlee area.
- When are you available?
I am available 5:30 until 7pm on Mondays. Tuesday to Thursdays I am available 4:30 until 7pm. If there is a particular need I can offer Saturday morning slots before the exams.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach from 11-19 all levels and abilities. I tend to mainly tutor older pupils, and have helped out some students upto degree level
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I currently offer a homework helper service to a couple of students, where I am paid a relatively small amount per question. If required I could offer a more proactive service of setting revision or catch up activities planned to a student's needs.
- What kind of experience do you have?
Prior to to becoming a teacher I worked in scientific research in several universities, during which time I tutored science students with their mathematics. I am currently the head of Chemistry in a local school and act as an A-level examiner. I have been tutoring maths and science for the past three years.
