With every child I meet I find a new way to bring the work to them, so they feel they can take ownership of their playing, to find joy and confidence in it. I believe strongly in Shinichi Suzuki's methodology based on the idea "every child can."
I have been playing classical violin since the age of 5. Since I began tutoring (working with students who already have private teachers) and teaching, I have worked with over 15 different violin and viola students between 2 and 14. My background is heavily focused in classical technique. When I work with students regardless of their level, I work with the understanding that commitment to the basics of posture, bow-hold and intonation will consistently bring their playing to a new level.
For tutoring, (i.e. working with a student who already has a private teacher) I offer a rate of £20/hr. For teaching, where I am the sole instructor, I charge £30. Additionally I charge £5 per session for travel expenses.
