Hi, my name is Tabea and I love teaching violin to all ages. I have been playing the violin since I was 5 years old and have a lot of experience in teaching all levels. It is never to late to start! Music should be part of everybody's life!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach violin, viola, chamber music and music theory from beginner level to advanced level.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am currently in my 4th year of the Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal Academy of Music and have been awarded the LRAM Teaching Diploma last year.
- How much do you charge?
I charge 25 pounds per hour.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Hendon, but I also travel to my pupil's houses in different areas of London such as Golders Green, Hampstead, Belsize Park or more central London areas also.
- When are you available?
My schedule is quite flexible. I usually teach afternoons and evenings during the week and on Saturdays all day.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and all levels. Music making is a wonderful thing and I would love to encourage people to try it out! I can be very serious with you if you are a serious musician wanting to audition for Junior Conservatoires or have important auditions coming up but I can also make music the most fun, pressure free hobby for you if that is more your intention!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for all Grade Exams up to Grade 8. I prepare students for music scholarships at prestigious schools or entrance auditions to music programs. However if working towards exams is not for you, then we can also learn violin just for fun which is how I started myself.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching for 5 years. I have experience in one to one lessons as well as in group lessons. My pupils so far have ranged from 4 year olds to 65 year olds. I have an LRAM teaching diploma certificate. I have worked in a school as the violin and music teacher and have been preparing students for exams for many years. I have also been teaching adults for some time. If your child needs extra lessons during the holidays or if they want a professional private teacher regularly to achieve a certain goal or just to play violin for fun I think I can be of help :)
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied violin in Berlin, Manchester and London with professors at respective Music Conservatoires.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Most of my current students are beginners which is a great joy to teach. They learn basic theory, musicianship and the skills to play the violin all at the same time and seem to be progressing from week to week and so far they seem to have a lot of laughs and fun. I also teach teenagers hoping to gain a music scholarship at private schools where I have a different more stern approach. I have some adult students who use music as a way of having a break from their job and day to day stresses. The lessons are very interesting for both the student and myself and I always find that we both learn a lot.
