I providing tutoring sessions in Maths up to A Level standard, including Additional Maths GCSE and also some Further Maths modules. Through my company I also provide tutoring for a number of other subjects, so get in contact to enquire whatever subject you are looking for.
The format of my lessons is very flexible. The aim of tutoring is for it to be as beneficial as possible to the student, so if a student wants to focus on anything specific in a particular lesson that will take precedence over anything I had previously planned to cover. I also try to create as comfortable an environment as possible, promoting confidence in my students and encouraging them to ask any questions that they have to ensure they get the most out of the lessons.
I know that many students struggle with Maths as they find the method of repetitively going through similar questions very boring and demotivating. Of course we have to go through questions as this is a key part of doing well in Maths, but I will try to make my lessons more dynamic, offering up different types of questions to keep students on their toes and also leading with what the student wants to cover.
Before any lessons start, you have a free 20 minute meeting with me to discuss what you are looking to get out of tutoring and so a relationship can start to be built with the student from the start. Then your first lesson will be free, so you don't have to commit before experiencing the quality of the tutoring.
I've always been naturally gifted in Maths and found the subject easy to grasp. In school I was always pushing to do harder problems, and this paid off when it came to sitting my exams, which I've always got the top grades in, even taking my A Level Maths exams all in one year instead of two.
I pride myself on being able to explain Maths concepts to others. I'm very good at explaining things and feel I am very skilled at finding different ways to explain the same problem until I find a way that makes sense to the student.
I first began tutoring in December 2016, over two years ago, and in that time I've taught over 300 hours of lessons with many different student in Spanish, Maths and Economics. I've seen great improvements in confidence in all of my students, and week after week I always see more engagement and interaction, showing their increased enjoyment of the subject.
I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate

Hey, my name is Shandon, I'm 22 and am in my final year at Durham University, where I study Economics and Spanish. I've been in love with tutoring for a long time now, and my mission is to provide a tailored online learning experience to help students to truly enjoy their learning. I tutor in Spanish and Maths all the way up to A Level standard, and also provide Spanish conversation classes for those who want to improve only their speaking ability.
My main focus in my lessons is to ensure that the content and the method of learning is tailored towards each student, as I feel that too often tutors provide a blanket approach to their classes which leads to students becoming demotivated. In this way, students are greater able to engage with the lessons. Further, I aim to make tutoring an enjoyable experience, so that the classes feel less like a lecture and more like a relaxed, interactive experience.
Really good lesson, covering everything in detail. Massive help towards my upcoming speaking exam!
Good tutor, explains very precisely and is easy to understand
