- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the cello, can tutor in chamber music, and can help students prepare for ABRSM exams.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from the RNCM with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) and obtained First Class Honours.

- Where do you teach?
I teach at my students' homes and teach at my own home (this is cheaper!).
- When are you available?
I am usually free all day Sunday, and on Mondays, however being a freelance musician my schedule changes. We can work out a time each week to suit both of us, and if it has to change, I'll always be able to find a time for you.

Any age from 5 and older, and any level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM, and auditions for music schools or conservatoires.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am available for Skype tutoring, however I would prefer face-to-face as I have found it to be much more beneficial.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
The cello is a fun and marvellous instrument, and is enjoyable at any age! You should definitely give it a try.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught people of various different ages and standards, children from the ages of 5, and adult beginners over 40.
I partook in the RLPO 'In Harmony' Scheme, working with some school students in Liverpool.
I also took a module at RNCM working and shadowing at RNCM Young Strings.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
No, however I have had one previously.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied under Georg Pedersen and Susan Blake at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School. I then studied under Julian Smiles for 9 months at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, before moving to Manchester to commence my BMus(hons) under the tutelage of renowned teacher Hannah Roberts at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Currently I study privately with Hannah Roberts and Mats Lidström.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Currently I teach a few adult students of different levels.
I always strive to explain everything in great detail and demonstrate everything so that my students fully grasp every concept. I don’t leave my students in the dark about anything and encourage a major focus on technique initially, particularly for beginner to intermediate level students.
One can not convey musical ideas effectively until the difficulties of the instrument are transcended!
For younger students I also emphasise technique at the beginning so that they are well set up for the future, as practicing bad habits can make them hard to change, and can lead to physical problems in the future.
For advanced students I encourage technical exercises and studies as their ‘fruit and veg’, but push my students to consider the musical detail in everything they play. Therefore, a study is not approached as just a technical exercise, but a musical exercise, and I challenge students to consider every note they play.
