My teaching is focussed on reflection on the part of the learner, with students encouraged to think about where their strengths and weaknesses are and then use that to structure lessons. I would encourage tutees to bring work or problems with them which we can then go through. I believe that I should be there as a guide and helping hand rather than me talking for an hour.
I teach ages 11-18 of all ability ranges and I can focus on specific difficulties or general exam revision, although I believe teaching and learning is much more effective with a specific focus. We can either go over difficulties which have arisen at school that week or I can create a personalised plan of lessons which suit the individual and run alongside the curriculum.
I am currently in my second year of teaching having completed my PGCE in Mathematics following an undergraduate degree in Education, both at the University of Sheffield. I have taught across 2 schools in South Yorkshire and currently teach at a secondary academy in the Barnsley area. I have run exam revision sessions throughout my time teaching so have a large bank of resources which are exam focussed.
