My teaching approach is to focus on problem areas, increase students' motivation by looking at relevance of this skill (problem-solving, geometry, algebra, etc.) to daily life and employment, go through example(s), then lots of practice with feedback. I also use a text with explanations and self-marking practice with occasional reviews.
Tutoring/teaching since 1997 at all levels from GCSE to postgraduate (I was an engineer before this for three years). Have tutored maths from GCSE to u/grad level with students getting A grades and going on to maths-related degrees. I taught maths (mostly at GCSE and Standard Grade level) in state secondary schools for two and a half years (one year in Scotland) however left due to the unsupportive environment and lack of actual teaching involved in the job. I then taught EFL abroad (adults and children). I have also taught engineers and accountants at private schools and universities (abroad and in UK universities) for over 10 years. In total I have taught hundreds of students over two decades.
