I build each lesson around a topic and provide opportunities to use all the language skills around this. This may be an exam related topic but may also be topics related to specific subjects for University students or particular professional areas for working adults. I would often set the pre reading of an article as a homework and then use this as a springboard for speaking, listening and writing activities. Grammar tasks would build into the homework task. There is usually a written task as homework plus the next week’s article.
I am a qualified Secondary English teacher (PGCE) and have a degree in English Literature and a Masters In English Language. I have 25 years experience of individual, small group and whole class teaching. I currently work part time in a Secondary School, teaching pupils from age 11 to 18. The rest of the time I teach adults both in the UK and abroad online and now lockdown is easing face to face. I have prepared students for both Trinity College and Cambridge Exams. I provide support with written and oral skills, giving grammar and vocabulary reinforcement for both.
