- Tell me about your qualifications.
Tereza Anna Privratska (born in Prague, Czech Republic) has been playing the violin since she was four. Her first teacher was Magdalena Mickova and later, at the Prague Conservatory of Music she studied with Jindrich Pazdera.
In 2010 Tereza completed her BMus degree at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London, taught by Professor Maurice Hasson, and finished her Masters degree at RAM under Jack Liebeck in September 2012. In addition to her solo violin career, she is the first violinist of the Jubilee Quartet since 2006.
The Jubilee Quartet was a winner of the Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition, 2011. The Quartet's 2012 engagements include concerts around the UK, such as recitals at the St Magnus Festival, Orkney and outreach concerts with the Live Music Now scheme, and a concert tour of Italy. In 2013 they performed their debut recital at the Purcell Room as winners of the Philharmonia MMSF Charles Henderson Ensemble Award. The Jubilee Quartet is a recipient of the Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music for 2012/2013 and the Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music and Dance for 2013/2014. The Jubilee Quartet won a third prize at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in 2013 and shortly after they had their first debut in the Wigmore Hall as part of the Tillett Trust award. The Quartet returned to the Wigmore Hall in July 2014 as winners of the Worshipful Company of Musician award.
As a soloist, Tereza has won several international violin competitions including the Kocian International Competition, Czech Republic; The Talents for Europe, Slovakia. In 2004 she participated in Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition in London.
Tereza's concert experience includes a duo performance with Josef Suk and the Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra in Prague's Rudolfinum, and a concert with Czech violinist Vaclav Hudecek and the orchestra Barocco sempre giovane, Karolinum, Prague, in 2008. She has performed in numerous concerts abroad - with the orchestra Archi di Slovakia (Slovak Republic), at the opening concert of the International Competition â€œTalents for Europeâ€; and in the UK, Germany, France and the US.
With the Jubilee Quartet, she has participated in masterclasses with Miguel da Silva (YsaÃ¿e Quartet), Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartet) and Leos Cepicky (Wihan Quartet). In 2013/14 the Jubilee Quartet studied at the Reina Sofia in Madrid under Gunter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet) and in 2014 they began their studies in Basel with Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet).

The usual charge is 50 GBP.

I teach at my house as well as travel to students, most London locations (Marylebone, Chelsea, Islington, Camden, Westminster, Greenwich, Blackheath.... )

I am flexible.

I am happy to teach students of any age and abilities.

Playing violin and exploring the music world can be so much fun!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching privately for the past 7 years. For the last 2 years I have been a fellow at the Royal Academy of Music and the Trinity Laban College. Currently I am a tutor at the Purcell School Chamber Music Academy. Since 2017 I am an assistant teacher at the Yehudi Menuhin School . In my teaching career I have a 100% pass in ABRSM exams with most of my students getting distinctions.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I had one requested by the Westminster Music Services.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I have been playing the violin since I was four. From 2006 I studied my BMus degree with Maurice Hasson at the Royal Academy of Music in London and was awarded full scholarship. 2010-2012 I studied Master of Music degree with Jack Liebeck at the Royal Academy of Music. Besides my solo violin study, I am the first violinist of the Jubilee Quartet which trained with John Thorne, Gunter Pichler and Rainer Schmidt. In 2009 I received my Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music and National Institution to be qualified as a violin teacher. From 2014 I am a chamber music coach at the Purcell School of Music (Chamber Music Academy).
