My teaching method is collaborative, as each student has their varying ways of learning. Therefore, both the student and I can decide on the most appropriate way, i.e. if a student is a more visual learner the use of diagrams, charts, tables can be used to an advantage. I can give lessons from ages five up to seventeen; including National 5 and Higher centred lessons.
I am a university student who has previously worked with younger students to improve their reading skills. I did this by use of paired reading; both students increased their reading level due to the work my students and I did.
I am a hard-working and highly motivated individual who can work well within a team and as an individual. I am a friendly and caring person who enjoys working closely with other people to obtain goals and to contribute to a positive environment. I am an adaptable person who can quickly adapt to new situations.

I am currently studying Theatre Studies, Film & Television Studies and English Language at the University of Glasgow.
I am a good listener and can communicate well with others. During my school experience, I was a mental health ambassador and a peer mediator; in which both roles needed these skills to communicate effectively with those who are struggling. These two roles firmly developed my leadership and team working skills. Due to being one of the older team members, I needed to take charge during meetings to ensure the meeting was successful. My team working skills have been developed further due to my study in Drama because we rely solely on each other in our acting groups. I have excellent timekeeping skills, and I try to be early for most events to avoid being late.
Hobbies & Interests:
I have always been interested in that of artistic medians: theatre, film, television and novels. I find it intriguing how authors, and writers, can change and manipulate the way people think and feel through the art of language and literacy. I have creatively written for years for entertainment and am interested in developing this further as I grow.
Teaching Assistant Rosshall Nursery
During my 4th year of school, I took part in a five-day week work experience at the local nursery, Rosshall Nursery. During this week, I worked alongside the department which taught the 2-3-year-olds. Throughout this week, I helped the fellow teachers and ensured the children were playing safely and not isolating anyone. I helped organise and control certain activities due to most of the day being playtime for the children.
Through this experience, I developed more communication skills as I had to be clearer for younger children to understand what I was saying explicitly. I enjoyed my time at this placement and thoroughly enjoyed working with both the children and the staff. June 2017
Teaching Assistant Cardonald Primary School
Within my 5th year, every Thursday afternoon, I went to work experience. Therefore I spent every Thursday afternoon helping at my local primary school. When I would first arrive, I would partake in paired reading with two pupils. Paired reading was gratifying as, throughout the months, I saw the development of the pupil’s confidence along with my own. I would then join a primary class and would assist the class teacher in whatever they would me to help with that afternoon. During this time, I did encounter troubling situations; therefore, this experience helped me understand what to do when a pupil or someone can become violent. Thus, this experience helped develop my leadership, communication and listening skills; as well as my confidence and initiative in different situations.
I also did a 5-day week work experience in June. Throughout this week, I assisted two different teachers and classes. I helped the children who were struggling with the academic tasks given to them; in most cases, this was Mathematics and English tasks. I also had the responsibility of taking control of a small group of pupils and assisting them with pre-set tasks. This was rewarding as I was able to explain these tasks and the underlying skill beneath them; i.e. literacy, language, numerical.
I enjoyed both of my placements at primary school, as I was able to form close bonds with the staff. My placement was also rewarding as I saw the pupils' skills increase due to help and work done by me. September 2017-March 2018, June 2018
Mental Health Ambassador:
I trained to be one of few mental health ambassadors; this role gave me more perceptive on a wide range of mental illnesses. I choose to be this role as I have struggled in the past and was determined to ensure that those younger than me will have the support I wish I had. This role was gratifying to me as I was able to help my school have a positive mindset and positive communication about mental health.
Peer Mediator: I also trained to be a peer mediator, in which I was prepared to handle disputes between different people and through different situations. I found peer mediation rewarding as I was able to help others who are struggling. However, it did come with challenges due to not every dispute ending exactly how each party hopes.
Academic Excellence in Drama Award: Through my hard work and determination, I was rewarding in winning an academic excellence award from my school. I obtained this in my study of Higher Drama due to my work and commitment to the subject in both theory and practical.
