My teaching methods include: memorisation, class participation, introduction and exploration through a step-by-step process and immersion.
I can help with: finding practicing and cultivating monologues; for auditions or performance, working on creative written pieces; whether for personal performance or otherwise, improv techniques, movement techniques.
I approach each topic by allowing collaborative exploration of interests, understanding of ability and continuous, personalised one-on-one work, recommending specific areas of research.
I am a theatre student from Essex, currently studying BA Theatre: Writing, directing and performance at the University of York. I've previously studied directing, acting, physical theatre, improv, contemporary dance and ballet, script writing, acting for film and TV and musical theatre. Currently, I am working towards becoming a director, playwright or acting coach.
Tanika is a second year BA Theatre student at the University of York. She has a background in directing, acting, physical theatre, dance, drama, improv. and musical theatre.
Currently working as a co-director and script editor for One Foot Theatre’s debut production Words as Bullets, which has previously been showcased at the University of York and is going on to premiere in the Festival of Ideas (2019) and will go on to have a two-week run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2019). She has held the role of Assistant Director for CHMS’ Legally Blonde, which took place in February 2019, after four months of vigorous rehearsal. Before her degree she took on the role of assistant director for the productions of both Marlow’s Doctor Faustus and Ayub Khan Din’s The Edelweiss Pirates. She has also taken the role of director in many small productions and devised pieces throughout university and sixth form. These include; a physical theatre production of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher, a shortened production of Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show and the delightful sketch The Psychiatrist by Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.
Tanika has had many acting and performance experiences including in an original play, Shed, with YSCP. Previously she has performed in Les Misérables, as Fantine, Doctor Faustus, as both Lechery and Helen of Troy, Oliver! as Mrs. Sowerberry and in The Edelweiss Pirates as the Narrator (performed at Norwich Playhouse as part of the National Theatre Connections series).
Since 2015 Tanika has been particularly interested in both production roles, with experience directing musicals and dramatic works and hopes to gain even more experience in directing, writing and acting coaching.
Tanika hopes to continue to assist and shadow inspirational directors, work as part of the brilliantly energetic theatre company One Foot and eventually work internationally.
