My lessons are always based around the needs of each individual student - everyone has different strengths and weaknesses in mathematics, so I tailor my tutoring around this. In general, I will ask what topics my students may be struggling with before each lesson; a typical lesson would then begin with me going through some of these, explaining concepts/ideas and methods to answer questions. As practice is so important in maths, I will typically spend at least half of the lesson going through practice questions with students to ensure they are comfortable with any questions thrown at them, however this can easily be altered depending on the needs of the student.
I am based around Sheffield city centre for face-to-face tutoring, however given the situation regarding coronavirus, I am more than happy to provide online tutoring via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet (or something similar). Although I am new to tutoring, I volunteered for the Coronavirus Tutoring Initiative (CTI), which aims to support students who are unable to access private tutoring; I tutored 5 A-level students during my time there. My related academic qualifications include:
- First-class in 2nd year (72%)
- A* in A-level Mathematics
- A in AS-level Further Mathematics
- 9 in GCSE Mathematics
- A in GCSE Statistics
- A in GCSE Physics
Lewis is SUPER helpful! I’ve never been good at maths but I understand it so much more now because of him. Lewis is great at explaining, patient, and very encouraging.
Lewis is one of the most dedicated and hardworking young men I know. He values education and loves maths. Lewis has provided educational support and advice to several of the children that I have cared for as a foster Carer over the past 9 years. He is patient and reliable. The idea that Lewis can spread his positivity towards learning to others is exciting. I would highly recommend him.
Lewis is a very reliable and helpful individual. He helped me to pass GCSE maths with a 7 and A level maths with an A! I would not have been able to do it without his persistent support and have no doubt he’d be an amazing tutor.
Lewis is a great tutor who helped me with tough topics in my mathematics for computing module such as: Algebra, Exponential function and Integration. 10/10 would recommend.
Lewis is an amazing tutor! He’s friendly, calm and understanding. Is happily willing to answer and repeat any questions you may have. Very supportive individual. Thanks to him I’ve actually started to enjoy maths and can apply it effectively academically and in daily life.
Excellent tutor who is patient and empathetic, really helped me through my Maths GCSE when I was predicted a 4, ended up getting a 6 in the end. Couldn't have done it without him.
