- What kind of experience do you have?
I've worked with students at a variety of schools on English Literature or Language and Literature. I assisted a GCSE student who was achieving A grades, and wanting to gain an A*, to understand why particular essays were reaching the highest standard. She needed to know what she was doing right to consolidate her achievements. I helped her make use of classroom learning, develop her knowledge and build analytical skills. A young adult enrolled as an external candidate at a private centre considered my suggestions for a choice of novel before electing Vanity Fair for A2 English Language and Literature. This student devised creative, and re-creative, writing tasks including a transcript of a television interview between Piers Morgan and Thackeray's character, Becky Sharpe. I assessed the writing and the marks were subsequently corroborated by the examination board. My experience as an Examiner for AS English with OCR; Moderator for the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Literature and Examiner for GCSE with AQA is useful when working toward exams or on essay-writing skills. I tutored another student over the three years of an English degree at Queen Mary. We worked toward an essay on Dr Faustus for an introductory course and essays in subsequent years including post-colonial literature and eighteenth century writing. I taught in the English Departments at the University of Kent and University of Greenwich.

I could not have asked for a better tutoring experience. I like to know my progress in any subject and Tracey understood this unlike any other teacher or tutor I had in the past. The in-depth comments I received were allowing me to progress and improve my English rather than causing a hindrance in my performance. I would like to thank Tracey for all her dedication and co-operation until the very last day, I know my accomplishments could not have been fulfilled without her. Thank you!
In general the entire process increased my mastery of academic skills and by the end I was able to gain a sense of pride and accomplishment. My most difficult and worst subject turned into the most interesting and enjoyable. I found every essay a thoroughly enjoyable challenge and surprisingly awaited the upcoming lesson. These tutoring sessions gave me passion to write English, and now I find it difficult to sway away from writing an essay.
