Trainee Primary School Teacher offering English Tutoring in Glasgow and Surrounding Areas

I am a Trainee Primary School Teacher who will start her probationary year in August and is looking to continue to develop and build upon her teaching skills in the meantime. I am looking to teach students of a primary, secondary or undergraduate level and can offer help in a variety of subjects:

English (exam preparations, essay writing, personal statements etc.)
Music (reading sheet music, musical concepts, basic clarinet and keyboard)
Mathematics (exam preparation to Scottish Higher level)
French (exam preparation to Scottish Higher level)
Primary Education (exam and essay work to Bachelors Degree level).

I am a friendly and approachable individual who aims to make learning fun for all involved.

I recently was teaching a primary one class in Dumfries and prior to this have undertaken teaching at various primary level ages throughout my four year degree. During my time at Troqueer Primary School, I have gained experience of working within the early years environment of a primary one class, facing challenges such as using and promoting active play, inter-disciplinary learning and catering to individual and collective learning support needs. This was a learning curve which I had never faced before as prior to this placement, I had not taught younger than primary three. Therefore, I feel this allowed me to experience the challenges and enjoyment of organising, planning for and managing a primary class on my own for the first time but also a new age and stage to cater suitable and appropriate learning to.

Additionally, during this time, I have had numerous opportunities to undertake professional dialogue with colleagues and specialists within the area of Additional Support for Learning. These professional dialogues ranged from other staff in school such as the Depute Head Teacher and Head Teacher to professional partners such as Educational Visitors and EAL specialists. From these experiences, I was able to gather an ability to participate in professional dialogue of this nature using the appropriate language and meeting the formal requirements in regards to the child's needs e.g. assistance request forms.

Also, throughout my university education as well as through my experiences working for Dumfries and Galloway Council, I have been able to gain an in-depth and growing knowledge of the curriculum and adapting the curriculum to meet the learners' needs. I have used this knowledge within my lesson plans and in completing the Planning and Assessment Trackers (PATS) used within the school to forward plan learning.
In addition, over my time as a probationer in Dumfries and Galloway, I attended various training sessions held both by the council and specifically by my school employer. These covered a range of educational subjects such as Health and Safety and Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).

Finally, this experience of a new age and stage to learn and teach at, has given me a great opportunity to collaborate with other colleagues and educators. I was able to work in partnership with my stage partner, my job share partner and other early year practitioners. This allowed me to provide a coherent primary one curriculum but to also engage in ongoing reflective dialogue.

During my time as a Tesco Checkout Operator, I was able to develop my customer service skills; including clear communication, ability to use positive language, patience, self-confidence, ability to 'read' customers, work efficiently, maintain a professional manner, time management, organisation and resilience. Additionally, my efforts were recognised on several occasions during this time when I was rewarded with 'Values' awards which were awarded to me by my manager, on behalf of a colleague or on behalf of a customer recognising excellent service. Also, I was an employee of Tesco, during their busiest time of year on three occasions - Christmas - during which I was able to demonstrate not only my loyalty and team spirit in 'pitching in' and taking extra shifts, but also my patience and resilience when dealing with difficult customers and an extremely busy work environment.

More than anything, I am dedicated to my education and any work I am involved in.
