I'm a friendly, enthusiastic trombonist in London studying at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music. I aim to inspire students and help them achieve their goals, whether you want to become a pro or play in your spare time, I adapt to what suits you!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Music at the Royal Academy of Music.
I hold a performance diploma awarded by ABRSM.
I have GCSE and A-level music. I achieved distinction in ABRSM grade 8 trombone, alongside grade 5 theory (also with distinction).
- How much do you charge?
I charge £30 per hour, or £25 for half an hour.
- Where do you teach?
I will travel to you to teach in your home (or office/studio/shed etc!). I live in West Hampstead, London, and will travel around 10 miles, or more if public transport is convenient.
- When are you available?
I am a very flexible teacher, so I`m happy to arrange a time will suit us both - even if this needs to be arranged on a week by week basis to fit around other commitments. I can teach weekdays, evenings and weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach all ages and all abilities!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to work towards any any exams with students, whether they be grades with ABRSM of Trintiy, or performance exams at school or college.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have good experience of private teaching, and I am currently unmaking training to complete a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music Diploma in teaching. Over the last few years I have worked with both Portsmouth and Brent Music Services to deliver brass teaching, and have also helped to coach beginner to intermediate level brass and wind ensembles. I am very happy to teach music theory if required.
I have performed in many different venues around the UK in many different groups (including orchestras, wind band, brass bands and chamber groups). My orchestral experience has included work with eminent conductors such as Marin Alsop and Robert Trevino, in a range of orchestras including: London Mahler Orchestra, Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, University of London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra. I have appeared on several recordings with Symphonova, under Shelley Katz.
I've also had training in Alexandra Technique, which I draw upon a little in my teaching to help ensure that making music is as physically easy as possible.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Where and with whom did you train?
I am currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music where I have been lucky enough to study with some of the worlds best brass teachers:
Dudley Bright (London Symphony Orchestra)
Ian Bousfield (ex Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra)
Mark Templeton (London Philharmonic Orchestra)
Jorgen van Rijen (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra)
Patrick Harrild (ex London Symphony Orchestra)
