I can work with students ranging from low to high ability to develop their subject knowledge, revision skills and exam technique. I do this through working through the revision guide to find weak spots in knowledge, active recall, going through past paper questions or helping with homework.
As a strong student myself I can help my tutees learn how to revise effectively and give advice and resources I have found useful through my own experiences :)
I have past experience leading a study group of 5 Year 11 Maths students that were aspiring towards grade 9s. I guided them through homework, weak topics and helped them bridge the gap between GCSE and A-Level Maths content. They ended up with four 9s and one 8!
I also volunteered as a teaching assistant every week of of sixth form to help a low-ability Year 7 class. I felt I truly bonded with the class, challenging the ones that showed confidence and supported and motivated those that were struggling or distracted.
I am a UCL Mathematics undergraduate, who has recently attained A*A*A*A in my A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics (with my A* in Maths achieved a year early).
I completed my GCSEs with grades (concealed information)A*A, despite coming from a low-achieving school. My grade 9s were in Maths and Combined Science (therefore was in the top 0.4%), and achieved an extra A* in Further Maths without any preparatory lessons.
Throughout my years of high school and sixth form, I have garnered a lot of experience in learning and perfecting a lot of content, quickly. I believe my more up-to-date and personal experience with education will be beneficial in constructing the perfect revision process for my students.
I have previously taught students during sixth form, ranging from low-ability Year 7 classes to a Year 11 tutor group and one-on-one tutoring to a Year 12 student. I'm great with interacting with high school students, even less motivated ones, and adapting my teaching style to suit their needs.
Emily helped teach my lower set Year 7 class every week when she was in sixth form. She has a kind, patient and understanding way with unruly or struggling kids, and I’m confident she would make an excellent private tutor to students of any ability. She was an outstanding pupil herself with great charisma too.
