My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students’ personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.
My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don’t lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students’ homework for them!
I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student’s understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs.
I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring to students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.
I have been tutoring students in Maths and Physics individually in their homes, in college and online while organising lessons by working with them externally due to high flexibility. I have tutored more than 300 students in the past 3 years and I have used various learning techniques that have proven to be very effective for my students.
This includes teaching a concept and linking it to their interests to maximise their understanding, while also using both audible and visual learning techniques such as diagrams to fully deliver the optimal teaching experience. I've also been working together with the student on challenging questions, which has not only improved their grades from a C to an A but also their mathematical and analytical skills. I also teach in a motivational way since I sometimes work overtime teaching the student optimistically while challenging them even further to achieve their goals of obtaining A/A* with my tutoring support.

Hello, I'm Hirad and I am currently studying at UCL for a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering while working towards a MEng after my 3rd year. At UCL, I am involved with teaching A-level and GCSE Mathematics and Physics to students as a part-time job during my free time, including weekends. What makes me a great tutor is that I always find new and better ways to teach, innovative methods that really powers the mind of the student, allowing them to fully grasp concepts to the highest standard. This means students are not simply learning facts but are able to think more independently and are more able to problem-solve/analyse concepts that require more than just knowing information.
I'm also really friendly and patient, which makes my lessons interesting and engaging, allowing the student to enjoy their time learning concepts. In my free time I enjoy listening to classical music and reading books, as well as cycling and taking part in clubs and societies.
Hirad has been amazing with our son. Physics was the one subject he found the hardest because of the maths involved. He has become very engaged with the subject because of Hirad's wonderful in-depth knowledge of the subject that he has passed onto our son. He has become more confident and knowledgeable because of this. Hirad is very organised and prepares very well before his lessons to make sure that the student gets the most out of each lesson. He is a brilliant tutor and a lovely person and I can highly recommend him for any tutoring post.
Hirad always came to every session prepared and with a great enthusiasm to teach. His explanations were always clear and concise and up to if not beyond the standard you receive in a school classroom. I found learning maths fun and enjoyable and Hirad was always easily approachable and flexible. I always felt comfortable trying things he asked and he was always happy to explain thoroughly if I did not understand without any pressure. I managed to achieved an A in my mock maths exam which was a huge improvement and I think a large part was down to our tutoring sessions. I would highly recommend Hirad to anyone looking to improve!

Hirad has been my tutor for 8 months throughout the entirety of year 13 and has been helping me with A-level Maths. His lessons were always of the highest standards. Not only was he clear and his lessons precise, but I found the lessons to be incredibly enjoyable and motivating. His Tutor sessions were extremely productive as he always knew what was on the syllabus and exactly what was required of me. He had found the perfect balance between showing me what to do and giving tips as well as when to step back and let me crack on with a question. Under his tutelage I improved by at least two grades from my Year 12 mocks. I was disappointed that our lessons were cut short by the cancellation of the exams and that I would not be able to show off everything that I had learnt from him, however I am still very grateful for his tutoring and thoroughly recommend him to anyone who may need a tutor. If I could give a six star review I most definitely would! Thank you, Hirad!
