I offer English Literature lessons to KS2, KS3, GCSE and A-Level students, as well as UCAS Admissions help (personal statement building, mock interviews etc.) to Year 13 and gap year students applying to study humanities subjects, although I'm equally as willing to help with personal statement writing for STEM students.
My approach to all tutoring sessions is to first gauge an understanding of what level you are working at and then setting realistic and incremental targets to allow you to reach your full potential by the time you sit your exams. Initially, I will need to look at current work, including any past paper exams, essays and work completed within school. This is to understand your style of writing and pick up on any obvious improvements that can be made quickly and easily. We will then both explore your work in depth in accordance to mark schemes to understand what more nuanced improvements can be made so that you're achieving top grades - this may include making sure you are hitting all the Assessment Objectives in a suitable timeframe, making your writing style increasingly sophisticated and/or improving your knowledge of the content of the texts you are studying and making more advanced connections.
My lessons are not exclusively for students preparing to sit exams - I am very willing to offer classes on creative writing and better written communication to people of all ages and abilities!
I am a London-based gap year student (of an ethnic minority / state-school education) currently holding an unconditional offer from Cambridge University for Law. I have been through the Oxbridge admissions process twice and have been offered a place at Cambridge University both times, so I consider myself fairly skilled at the interview process as well as personal statement writing. I am more than willing to offer personalised admissions assistance such as personal statement building workshops and mock interviews.
I have been tutoring English Literature for 2 years to students of mixed abilities, all of which have gone on to excel in their exams. In terms of qualifications, I have achieved 5 A* and 5 As at GCSE, as well as an A* in A-Level English Literature (including full marks in my coursework). I am happy to help with perfecting your coursework as well as improving your essay writing skills.

Perfect! Kyran was always an avid reader and enjoyed English. In the last year or so his confidence took a dip and resulted him shying away from any English work. During his first session with Yasmin he produced an impressive piece of literature and even asked when he could have his next session!
Kyran, Shazia's son, is an extremely bright and capable young man who has endless potential in English. His imagination enables him to explore new avenues within creative writing and making his own descriptive pieces. Together, we have been able to discuss his needs and I have created an achievable set of targets for him in terms of expanding his range of vocabulary, building his confidence in his writing and exploring new and ambitious ways to structure sentences to make his writing that much more sophisticated. So far I've had an extremely enjoyable time tutoring him and Shazia has been very accommodating. I look forward to seeing his inevitable progression!
