I love learning and feel that passion is the best way to succeed at degree level. I am particularly passionate about working with students studying social sciences, modern history, public sector vocational trainings and political theory and philosophy.
I have worked with many students who feel highly anxious about their studies and are underperforming. Over time, they have improved their results and come to feel passionate about their projects.
I usually work with students to help them undertake particular projects or essays. I hope to equip students with the skills and confidence they need to proceed independently.
I am a highly experienced and friendly undergraduate and postgraduate tutor. I help students to overcome previous barriers to success so that they can effectively write essays, plan and write dissertations and pass exams.
I am equally passionate about working with people and about academia. I have undertaken three degrees and half a doctorate at the University of Bristol, UCL and the Tavistock Clinic (NHS). Therefore, I know from my own experience what it takes to excel. I have also worked as a doctoral NHS Child and Adolescent psychotherapy trainee so I am highly experienced in working with people who have emotional, cognitive and behavioural barriers to academic success. This can include anxiety, ADHD, ASC and dyslexia. I really enjoy working with people who have underperformed in the past and are unsure of how to fulfil their potential.
Some of my own academic experiences:
I got a First for my undergraduate history degree at Bristol. During this time, I loved researching 1980s German nudism, American race relations and Holocaust experiences. After working in think tanks for two years I undertook an MSc in Anthropology at UCL and got distinctions for all but one of my modules. Since then I have undertaken an NHS- based diploma in psychoanalytic observation and child development studies. I attained distinctions for all of my theoretical submissions, including a grade of 85 for a paper about Melanie Klein. I have submitted two papers at doctoral level and gained distinctions for both of them.
I have always loved to learn, particularly when it involves psychoanalytic, post-structuralist or political theory! Before my degree, I attained 297/300 for my Psychology A-Level and 295/300 in my Politics A-Level.
