I worked with children mainly, so I was teaching them English through games, but also explaining aspects of Western culture.
I believe that when learning a language it is important to take in consideration also the culture of the country.
I think grammar is important, but the most important thing is being able to talk, so I focus on speaking and listening.
Of course when it comes to Chinese it is also important to learn characters and how to read them

I used to teach English and English/American culture in English to large classes of 40 kids each. I had a total of 6 classes (so 240 students). I used power points and games to explain. I was their international class teacher, so my job was to mainly focus on speaking and listening, but I used to ask them to write short pieces for me so that I could correct their spelling as well.
