My teaching approach is centered around providing the best support and contact with my students as possible. I believe that it is very important to build a good and strong relationship with students, in order for them to be able to get the best out of themselves from an academic point of view.
I have just completed my postgraduate degree in psychology and achieved a masters as an MSc conversion course. Previously I studied Educational Studies at undergraduate level, and gained a 2:1 before completing my masters. I also have experience with teaching students at university level in their lectures and seminars which I carried out during my second and final year of my undergraduate degree.
I am a recent graduate from the University of Plymouth who is fresh and ready to experience the world of work. My course of study at undergraduate level was: (BA) Education Studies, where I enhanced my people skills by working within groups to meet my set requirements at university level. In my chosen field, I was also able to improve my intellectual knowledge in terms of the way in which we learn and interact socially. This ultimately improved my own social skills, which allowed me to communicate a lot easier with people in my everyday life.
At Masters level, I was accepted to partake in a postgraduate conversion course in psychology (MSc Psychology). Not only did this course allow me to convert and broaden my understanding surrounding a multitude of topics in psychology, but I was also able to enhance my general academic understanding from undergraduate to post graduate level. Whilst reflecting on this valuable experience, I have been able to prove that I can succeed in academia at a masters/postgraduate level, which could inspire potential future PhD work. During this degree, I experienced carrying out my own research project under the supervision of my allocated supervisor. The opportunity to work with and gain such valuable knowledge and insights from my supervisor has been extremely beneficial for me, not just for the standard of my research project, but also for my own personal growth, experience and knowledge surrounding the field of psychology and research from a more general perspective.
University Work Experience
During my second and third year in the years of 2016, 2017 and 2018, I signed up to partake in a specific work experience opportunity, that allowed me to shadow and even carry out lectures and seminars as a chosen speaker or lecturer. Throughout this work experience, I was also able to carry out other various activities, such as board writing and additional jobs such as handing out work and booklets to the learners and students who were taking part in the sessions. This enabled me some very valuable experience and work as an assistant, however undoubtedly, having the opportunity to take a leading role as a lecturer or key speaker during lectures and discussions, was where I really thrived and grew in the way of a personal and academic point of view. These discussions were based around my own life experiences, as well as relevant content for the provided course modules for first, second- and third-year education studies students. I was given the opportunity to plan and prepare for my own seminars in my own time, using my own lecture slides and any additional resources. This would be done either on my own or working with another individual.
While I have been busy studying at university, I have been out of the long-term work environment. This has built a personal hunger for me to get back to the job market and start something new, therefore I am very fresh, motivated and ready to get going.
Following my return to the job market, I am looking to secure a challenging new role where skills, knowledge and previous experience can be applied, this will help me gain more experience of working in a different environment, which can only benefit me with my long-term goal of becoming successful in my field of work. I am always looking for opportunities to grow, from a personal point of view and in the working and academic world, therefore I hope to find a job that can help shape me to become the best version of myself in the working world.
June 9th- September 1st
My time working here helped enhance my people skills, allowing me to interact with colleagues and customers. I was required to work in a group and individually, which improved my ability to work in a team to meet each requirement, as well as reach the needs of the customers by working on my own. My time at Tesco was incredibly beneficial for me, as I have gained the experience to enable me with the skills to create good, positive and successful relationships with customers and colleagues. I personally feel that the main benefit that has come from my experience working in retail, is that it has provided me with a calm, more positive and happier attitude for when I’m carrying out my work or being placed within a working environment.
High House Farm
Summer of 2015- Present
I have had some seasonal work at High House Farm, helping to clean and prepare holiday accommodation. This involved working within a small team in an efficient and thorough method to complete the work in a limited time scale and to meet the customers’ desires to the best of my ability. This has enabled me to learn to take note of the smaller details required to complete the job to the standards that are set, which improved my level of work ethic because of the specific focus to detail within the job that I had to demonstrate.
Additional Work Experience
During my last year of school/sixth form, I spent time assisting a qualified football coach in after school football sessions, this was a beneficial experience for working with children from the ages of twelve, whilst they were partaking in a sport that they enjoyed. I was also given the opportunity to conduct my own session under the supervision of the coach and a qualified P.E teacher. This experience broadened my understanding of teaching as it provided me with the ability to work with and conduct a class of students.

Throughout my personal life, I have always placed myself and have been placed within situations that have provided me with the opportunity to grow and better my knowledge with specific situations. Throughout my university degree, I never missed an opportunity to move forward from a personal point of view. Every time I came up short or felt unsuccessful to a certain degree, I always managed to re build my capabilities and return my efforts in a more successful fashion. Each time my grade would begin to slip, I would be able to assess how I could improve, and subsequently I was able to come out with a second upper class grade, which followed my hard-work and high levels of improvement.
My sporting interests have allowed me to work well within a team. These benefits included social skills and the competitive nature in which we would compete. I have spent 17 years playing football, and my passion for the game has not changed at all. This shows that I am a dedicated individual when it comes to challenge and commitment.
Personal Intentions and Goals
I am a very self-motivated individual, with clear intentions of getting the best out of myself, and those around me. My drive is to succeed and accomplish a happy and beneficial journey in the field of work, which consistently improves my chances of becoming the most successful and positive person that I possibly can. Ultimately, I am very focused on making a positive future along with building on the very useful past journeys that I have had in my young life
Never been in a position to distrust Alex. A very trustworthy and professional tutor, would highly recommend.
Alex is a very pragmatic and engaging tutor who helped me achieve the grade I needed to get into Bath. My main struggle was on the educational studies topic including Piaget and Vygotsky, but with Alex’s help I was able to pass that part of the exam. I would wholeheartedly recommend Alex to anyone who is seeking a professional tutor to help them with their needs.
