QUESTION 01 | 08
When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
Kamil — I started in digital marketing as I undertook a sandwich course at Westminster University. During my time at university I accepted a work placement program at Mapp Digital

This internship exposed me to all elements of digital marketing such as: programmatic display, social, email and mobile marketing.

Private tutoring came about when I would help my friends at university with their digital marketing module. Some of my friends did not attend a work placement and lacked practical digital marketing experience. My friends suggested I do this as a side job and that is how it all started. When I joined Superprof I already had a large client base and the platform helped expand my reach even further.

Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
Kamil — I really enjoy marketing, it's a very broad topic and all students are exposed to it at some point in their university degree.

Digital marketing is a new subset of marketing and modules about it are more and more common at university. Moreover, some degrees solely focus on digital marketing. As I have practical experience and enjoy applying real world context to the theory they are studying.

Having done a business degree and currently managing a business unit at a Finance company, I enjoy teaching about entrepreneurship and what goes into running/starting a business.

Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
Kamil — My inspiration for teaching was my martial arts professor back in New York. He used to always say "each one, teach one". Basically the principle of passing knowledge to others and if you are able to teach someone a concept that shows your mastery of it.

What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
Kamil — Patience, empathy and listening are important. Also security as students are working with strict deadlines and need urgent help, this panic can hurt the student's ability to benefit from the lessons. Being able to reassure them and empower them is a key to success.

Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
Kamil — One key thing I learned is that the purpose of university and what I studied is very different from the real world. In the real working world the theory you learned in university will not be used in your day to day. Softer skills such as problem solving, organization, consistency and willingness to learn new things are valued.

What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?
Kamil — I always hated tests, being a perfectionist it would always stress and over prepare for an exam. While I always got top marks I didn't enjoy the stress it put on me.

Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
Kamil — My passion is martial arts and it links closely with teaching. I also enjoy business and marketing and teaching this to others was a natural progression. We are exposed to marketing everywhere in life and I enjoy discussing marketing and its real life implications.
