The best way of learning is by getting stuck in, and I'd be tailoring each session to suit your individual needs. Basic topics you can expect me to cover include:
- Composition theory
- Quality of line
- Colour theory
- Drawing from life
- Basic art history
- Simple book binding
(and many more!)
I would be happy to supply some materials such as papers and oil pastels etc but you are more than welcome to use your own if that is more comfortable.
For those interested, examples of my work can be found online at michaelblackart.co.uk, but I would be encouraging you to find your own style and to chase making the things that excite you most.
As well as being a practicing graphic designer and illustrator, I have already built up some workshop and teaching experience with children aged 5 - 14. With my university course for example I have worked with primary school children to illustrate their own stories as part of the Edinburgh Book Festival. I am happy to teach anyone of any age or ability though (and its never too late to start!).
