Together we'll focus on the topics you find most difficult. Using my own worked examples, I'll help you to understand the ideas behind each calculation. It's important that you're not just mindlessly following a formula, but that you know the reason for each step in the solution.
Once you've grasped the key concepts of a topic, I'll set you problems based upon past exam papers to do in your own time and we will go over them together in the following lesson.
For the last four years I have been studying Maths at the University of Edinburgh and now have a first class honours degree. Before that I took Maths as a subject up to Advanced Higher Level in high-school.
As someone who has spent the last decade learning maths (without going crazy), I've been taught by a lot of maths teachers using a lot of different teaching approaches. I've had my fill of bad teachers and frustrating moments. I've had teachers that went at a million miles an hour, and those that spent far too long drilling in the same questions again and again. This has really helped to show me the makings of a good teacher, and so I seek to explain things as clearly as possible while still wanting to challenge my students.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to tutor friends and siblings in a variety of mathematical topics over range of different levels. Finally, aside from my experience as a learner, I have worked for 'Zeta Maths' writing maths textbooks for high-schools.
Please let me know what level of tuition you need, and what areas in particular you want to cover in advance so I have time to prepare the lessons.
